The Halfway Point

The last time I posted a blog was after Hanukkah, which seems like so long ago! I’m now at the halfway point in my program and have been really trying to make the most of my time here. I was accepted into the Masa Hillel Fellowship which will hopefully provide career opportunities when I go back home. We’ve only had one session so far but it’s been great getting to know other people in Masa. My new years was pretty chill. There was a lot of people out in Tel Aviv but it wasn’t like how new years is back home.

Last month my program took us to Sderot which is a city very close to the Gaza strip. We talked to people who live there and we saw rockets that had landed in Sderot as well. It was a very eye opening experience. In January we also celebrated Tu BiShvat. We helped trim orange trees and had a nice little campfire afterwards. Last Sunday we had an amazing time in Haifa where we walked down the Bahai Gardens. Aside from going to school and the enrichment days with my program, I’ve been going to Tel Aviv a lot. I’ve been obsessed with hummus and love trying different places. Next month we’ll have 5 days off for Purim which is like Israel’s halloween. Then in April I’ll be going to France for our very long Passover break!
